Nike set nerd hearts aflutter everywhere last night with a teaser video for the Air Mag sneakers featured in Back to the Future, Part II, and today it's revealed details. The shoes are packed with a glowing LED panel and an electroluminescent Nike logo and are said to have five hours of battery life per shoe. But sadly, we're left disappointed -- Nike's first rechargeable sneakers don't actually lace themselves as they did in the film.
Nike's teamed up with the Michael J. Fox Foundation and eBay to auction off 150 pairs every day for the next 10 days, for a total of 1,500 pairs. Prior to this release, a $50 million match grant was given to the foundation by Google co-founder Sergey Brin and his girlfriend, 23andme co-founder Anne Wojcicki, potentially doubling the contributions from the auctions. You can head over to nikemag.ebay.com starting tonight at 11:30PM ET and try to win yourself a pair -- just don't expect these to go cheaply.
