New Huawei P20 photos show a dual-camera system

Huawei recently debuted the Mate 10 Pro at CES, and it’s already gearing up to launch another phone called the P20. Now, images of the phone have appeared on the website for China’s telecommunications regulator TENAA, giving a look at four sides, as reported by GMS Arena.

Previous rumors about the device said it could feature a three-lens system as well as a notch (like the iPhone X), but these photos show only two camera lenses. The vertical setup houses a laser autofocus and dual-LED flash. Above that are two camera lenses, and on the front is another dual lens setup for selfies.

Huawei has had a rough few months in the US. The Mate 10 Pro entered the market with no carrier partnerships, it has faced accusations of spying for the Chinese government, it was recently caught getting people to write fake reviews on Best Buy’s website, and the FBI, CIA, and NSA have all warned against using Huawei products. FBI Director Chris Wray said the government was “deeply concerned about the risks of allowing any company or entity that is beholden to foreign governments that don’t share our values to gain positions of power inside our telecommunications networks.”

Huawei will be debuting its new device at an event in Paris on March 27th, and three different tiers are expected: the P20, P20 Lite, and P20 Plus. The appearance of a notch is to be determined, but the company released a short teaser video today that seems to still fuel the three camera rumor. Though the model above shows two cameras and Android Central recently showed off another dual-camera phone that it said was an early P20, it’s possible that the prototypes and images that have leaked so far are of two-camera models, and one model has three.
