NTT Docomo has announced two Disney-branded Android smartphones for the Japanese market. The Panasonic P-05D is out towards the end of this month, and has a 4.3-inch 960x540 OLED screen, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and 13.1 megapixel camera. Here's the interesting part for non-Disney fans — it appears to be nearly identical to the reference prototype Panasonic said was destined for the European market. It looks like this will be the first chance we get to see that handset in finalized retail form.
For those who value skinniness over specs, coming in March is the 7.8mm thin Fujitsu F-08D with a 4.3-inch 720p screen, 8-megapixel camera and 1GHz processor. This model looks to be heavily based on the Toshiba Regza T-01D from last year, though it's lost a millimeter in thickness and has a downgraded camera and processor. Both Disney phones feature the usual array of Japan-specific features such as waterproofing, infrared, one-seg TV and o-saifu keitai NFC. They're running a heavily skinned build of Android 2.3, and there’ll be free Disney content provided such as apps, movies, emoji characters. Possibly most importantly for Japanese customers, the phones will get you special benefits at Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea.
